QUESTIONS:
1. Why do I see L after pushing the button? Is the battery low?
No, the battery is OK. The L means low temperature (below 89.6 F or 32 C) - usually room temperature. It's ready to be used.
The L has nothing to do with the battery which should last several years.
2. I lost my instruction sheet. Can you send me another?
The instruction sheet is a page in this site. Just click the tab and you can read it on the screen. And you can easily print it on your home computer. Or we will send the the instructions as a PDF file attachment if you email your request to:

3. What temp is normal or fever or high fever?
Ask your physician as it varies for individuals. This is a general guideline for oral temperature readings (temps vary from true core temp by location taken):
- 97.0 to 98.9F / 36.1 to 37.2C is NORMAL
- 99.0 to 100.9F / 36.2 to 38.3C is MILD FEVER
- 101.0F / 38.4C or higher is HIGH FEVER
4. What temperature requires immediate call to medical help or 911 emergency?
The following is a general guideline only. An individual's medical conditions and medical history should be considered and physician advice is important:
- 100.4F / 38.0C or higher for a child under 3 months old
- 102.2F / 39.0C or higher for a child 3 month to 2 years old
- 104.0F /40.0C or higher for all ages above 2 years old
5. Why three different places to take a temperature?
Normally, take a temp only at one of the three places depending on age:
- under 3 months - take temperature rectally (use KY jelly to lubricate silver tip and only insert the tip)
- 3 months to 3 years - take temperature in armpit, holding the child's arm closed on the thermometer
- over 3 years - take temperature orally (unless it is difficult to hold the thermometer under tongue and keep mouth closed)
6. What does CE 0197 mean? It's on the instruction sheet.
CE 0197 is a certification of medical quality used by the European community, comparable to FDA certification in the United States. The CE Mark is considered proof that a product has met the requirements of the European standard.
Note, the product also has FDA approval, meaning it is registered by the FDA and approved for distribution in the USA.
